Ganesh Chaturthi: Celebrations around the world.

Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi. Ganpati is most popular among the Hindu Gods. The festival is celebrated throughout India and the whole of India celebrated this with great devotion and enthusiasm.


This day is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesh, son of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. Ganpati is the symbol of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. This festival is celebrated for 10 days and it is usually celebrated in the month of August and September depending on the Hindu Calendar.



This festival is celebrated in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Goa, and Pune. This festival is not only celebrated in India but also apart from India, countries like Canada, Mauritius, Thailand, Singapore, US, UK. People over there are celebrating this festival with love, happiness, colours, and festive dishes.


The festival is celebrated for 10 days, and on the 11th day, the Bappa are taken through the street and it is accompanied with dancing, singing and then the Lord Ganesha, is immersed in a river or a sea. After the final offering of coconuts, flowers people carry the idol to the river to immerse it.


The most famous dish in this festival is Modak and Karanji. A Modak is made from rice flour/wheat flour with a stuffing of a fresh or dry-grated coconut, jaggery, and dry fruits. And Karanji is similar to the Modak in composition and taste but has a semicircular shape.


Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with devotion and enthusiasm. And May Bappa removes all obstacles from your life and bless you with wealth, happiness and a good health.
